There’s plenty of inspiration between 12 movies, four TV series, and countless comics, books, and merchandise, but we’ve narrowed it down to the best Star Wars Dog Names of some of our favorite characters.

Best Star Wars Dog Names

There are literally thousands of Star Wars characters, from main characters, Storm Troopers, to random aliens in the background of your famous scenes. These are some of the most recognizable and most loved—Star Wars characters of all time.

1. Chewie

Han Solo’s Wookiee sidekick and pilot of the Millennium Falcon, Chewbacca, or Chewie for short, is one of the most famous characters in the series. Are you bringing home a Yorkie? We think Chewie is the perfect name because you guessed it, Yorkies look like miniature Chewbaccas!

2. Han

The captain of the Millennium Falcon, Han Solo was the thief-turned-ultra-handsome-rogue of them all. Star Wars Dreams.

3. Obi

The wise, patient, and super-skilled Jedi who first trained Anakin Skywalker, and later Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the truly good and virtuous characters in Star Wars. We love this name for an older, wiser dog and bonus points if he has a shaggy white beard.

4. Darth (Vader)

Sure, there are plenty of Darths in the Star Wars galaxies, including Maul, Momin, and Sidious, but if your dog really leans to the dark side, name him the baddest of them all: Darth Vader. Just don’t be surprised if he starts muttering, “I find his lack of playing time disturbing,” as he tries to work.

5. Manda or Lorian

The latest Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, has taken the Disney+ streaming service by storm. Although there is a whole cast of new characters and appearances by old characters, we think the title of the series is quite inspiring. Manda and Lorian make cute and unique dog names, right?

6. Yoda

The most well-known character from all of the Star Wars series and properties, Yoda is (see what we did there?). Yoda is the Jedi Master who trains Luke Skywalker and is wise beyond his thousands of years, making him another solid choice for an older dog. Bring home a puppy? Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian is probably one of the cutest things we’ve ever seen and would totally work for a younger pup.

7. Luke

Does your dog need to grow up a bit? Consider naming it after Luke Skywalker. Perhaps the wineries Jedi ever, Luke is the focus of the original Star Wars trilogy and later becomes a Jedi Master with his own Jedi Academy.

8. Leia

Leia Organa, the toughest princess on this side of the galaxy, showed generations of women and girls that they, too, can lead the Rebel Alliance, the New Republic, and the Resistance; she promotes virtue and defeats the dark side, and take out the double buns. We love this name for a rough little dog.

9. Mace

A master is sitting on the Jedi Council, who is also considered one of the best sworders in Star Wars history – Mace Windu was an unapologetic good guy and beloved Jedi General. If you don’t love the name Mace, Windu also makes a good choice.

10. Kylo

Son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, Ben Solo adopted the name Kylo Ren after his fall to the dark side. Throughout Episodes VII-IX, you can see Kylo Ren struggle with his evil and stuff at times! He really wants to be good. I mean, this name would totally suit a pup who loves to chew, but he knows he really shouldn’t.

11. Lando

Lando Calrissian is a smuggler, thief, and gambler and was the original owner of the Millennium Falcon before his best friend Han Solo stole it. Despite the initial sketch of him, Lando later becomes a General in the Rebel Alliance and leads the attack on the Death Star in Return of the Jedi. He talks about redemption, right??
